Your Beautiful

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Psalm 19:1

Friday, July 22, 2011

this is the will of God, your sanctification....

So I have been thinking and praying about this year in Mexico... a lot.

" If anyone comes to Me and does not hate...his own life....he cannot be My disciple" (Luke 14:26)
I feel that God is stripping me down to just myself... I want the Spirit of God to strip me down until there is nothing left but myself. Am I willing to be myself and nothing more? Am I willing to have no friends, no father or mother, and no self interest? Am I willing to reduce myself to simply "me"? Am I determinded to strip myself of all that my friends think of me, and all that I think of myself? Am I willing and determinded to hand my naked self to God? I am praying that once I am  He will immediately sanctify me completely, and my life will be free from being determined and persistent toward anything except God.  (1 Thessalonians 5: 23-24)

I want to be made one with Jesus. (1 Corinthians 1:30)

So...If you want to contact me you can send me a letter any time you want, I know it will be encouraging!

Beyond Brokerage

Here is a small section of Chapter 6 of the book:
The Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne
I suggest you check this book out. Lots to ponder on.

" It is much more comfortable to depersonalize the poor so we don't feel responsible for the catastrophic human failure that results in someone sleeping on the street while people have spare bedrooms in their homes. We can volunteer in a social program or distribute excess food and clothing through organizations and never have to open up our homes, our beds, our dinner tables.  When we go to heaven, we will be separated into those sheep and goats Jesus talks about in Matthew 25  based on how we cared for the least among us, I'm just not convinced that Jesus is going to say, "When I was hungry, you gave a check to the United Way and they fed me," or, "When I was naked, you donated clothes to Salvation Army and they clothed me."  Jesus is not seeking distant acts of charity.  He seeks concrete acts of love: " You fed me...You visited me in prison... you welcomed me into your home... you clothed me."  Rich and poor are kept in separate worlds, and inequality is carefully managed but not dismantled.

When the church becomes a place of brokerage  rather than an organic community, she ceases to be alive.  She ceases to be something we are, the living bride of Christ.  The church becomes a distribution center, a place where the poor come to get stuff and the rich come to dump stuff.  Both go away satisfied (the rich feels good , the poor get clothed and fed), but no one leaves transformed. And Jesus did notset up a program but modeled a way of living that incarnated the reign of God, a community in which people are reconciled and our debts are forgiven just as we forgive our debtors (all economic words).  That reign did not spread through organizational establishments or structural systems.  It spread like disease- through touch, through breath, through life.  It spread through people infected by love."

I can rest assured

 Kim Walker- Spontaneous Song 1

"You're so worthy
You're so worthy

Come inhabit our praise
Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit
Come have your way
Holy Spirit, your love is better than wine
Your love, it flows, it flows, it flows, it flows
Let it flow over us tonight
Let it flow over us tonight

I am my beloved's and he is mine
I am my beloved's and he is mine

Oh I belong, I belong to you, Jesus
We belong to you, Jesus
We belong to you
We belong, we belong, we belong
We belong to you

Every single heart longs for you
Every single heart longs for you
How could we not fall so hopelessly in love with you?
How could we not fall head-over-heels in love with you?

I'm gonna drink deep of your love
Drink deep, I drink deep of your love
Letting it go deep inside of me
Every part of me
I'm gonna drink deep, I'm gonna drink deep
Of your love, your love
'Cause it's better than wine

I belong to you, I belong to you
You've marked me with your love
And I, I belong to you
And it just makes me just crazy happy
And it makes me just feel so silly

And I can rest assured
I can rest assured
Because I belong to you
I belong to you"

You are my everything and I will adore You

"Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing praise to the King of kings
You are my everything and I will adore You

Filled with wonder awestruck wonder

At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power breathe of living water
Such a marvelous mystery

Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God almighty

Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing praise to the King of kings
You are my everything and I will adore You"

I just want to stay where His Presence lingers

Abide in me

So today I picked up my book that teaches MSL mexican sign language, it is called Mis manos que hablan: lengua de senas para Sordos. I need to be learning these signs to be able to communicate. As of right now I know ASL American sign language and bits of spanish... It's harder for me to learn the Spanish language than it is to learn MSL. It's all so new and it's funny starting all over again with a new language. I feel like Once I am at the ranch and around the culture I might be able to learn faster also I will have a lot of help! I can't wait I am truly excited for this new change in life.

I was just reading John 14 and 15 today and was reminded again to not get carried away with everything of the world, which is so easy for me to do. I need to constantly be in Gods word, make time to praise his awesome works, and give thanks! I have been hearing John 15 a lot lately. It is so cool and true where it says verse 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

Of course, that's so obvious if I want to be spilling what i have learned and the love that I have for other people. Where will it come from? Only from abiding in God. Having special time set apart to learn and grow.

If I could hear Christ praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million enemies. Yet distance makes no difference. He is praying for me.

Luther on Marriage

God's Word is actually inscribed on one's spouse. When a man looks at his wife as if she were the only woman on earth, and when a woman looks at her husband as if he were the only man on earth; yes, if no king or queen, not even the sun itself sparkles any more brightly and lights up your eyes more than your own husband or wife, then right there you are face to face with God speaking. God promises to you your wife or husband, actually gives your spouse to you, saying: "The man shall be yours; the woman shall be yours. I am pleased beyond measure! Creatures earthly and heavenly are jumping for joy." For there is no jewelry more precious than God's Word; through it you come to regard your spouse as a gift of God and, as long as you do that, you will have no regrets.

Martin Luther, 1531

That is so rad... I love the visual of heavenly creatures jumping for joy over a beautiful relationship that is pleasing to God!

Oh no You never let go

One of the saddest things I encounter is people who think Christianity is all about a) being a good person and going to church or b) believing in Christ for fire insurance from hell.

Our God is a God of love. A God who loves us though we rebelled against him. A God who extends his arms to us though we would cut the rope that keeps us from plunging into darkness. And still, he loves us and calls to us and draws us to himself. And when we don't answer, he plunges into those depths himself to rescue us. And he holds us gently, tenderly, securely. He lifts our heads and opens our eyes. And he does not let us go.

So I am sending out a support letter which shares a little bit about Rancho Sordo Mudo and why I am going. Also I am asking for prayer and financial support for the 8 or so months that I'm gone. I could use a lot of prayer getting ready to go and while I am there. I want to keep my eyes focused on God and serving any way that I can! I am so so stoked to be able to go. Its going to be an adventure and a great growing experience.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Psalm 143:8
